Off to work on Xmas Eve Day! Wish me luck!
- 14:45:46: Apparently, people cannot wait until I can finish unpacking and checking in the reorders. They need those comics NOW!

Apparently in the latest 20 questions for Dan Didio (bigtime guy at DC Comics) he revealed that the plans for Flash have changed..
next year after Blackest Night, its all going to be about Barry Allen, Patron Saintfuckup of the DC Universe.
No Kid Flash book as originally planned. No Wally West second feature as originally planned. Its all about Barry.
You may now scream in frustration with me.

Not really doing Xmas this year because 1) we're broke (yeah, I said it; the unexpected plumber visit and another unexpected bill tapped me out) and 2) we're ridiculously busy getting ready for January/February conventions. I'm up to my ears in getting Genus #92 and Genus: Male #9 ready for press (and yes, if you have stuff you were planning for Genus: Male, NOW would be the time to get that to us before it's too late!), also up to my ears in getting stock ready for the convention. Yesterday was the first day in a week and a half that I felt normal and not sick, so here's what I got done:
--processed online store orders
--did a bunch of order paperwork
--made some new Project Wonderful ads
--bought new ads on Project Wonderful for our webcomics
--did five loads of laundry
--changed the bed
--did one load of dishes
--packed the week's mail order and auction packages
--printed the postage for said packages
--updated the Radio Comix online store
--posted auctions on both eBay and FurBuy
--dropped off the mail at the post office; had to wait to send two packages the old fashioned way (it was godawful; the place was full of people holding un-packaged objects they wanted to send other people for Xmas. They could have at least put the stuff in a box! Also, only two clerks, to deal with the hordes of people who had never encountered the idea that postage costs money. Good lord!)
--answered some of the probably hundreds and hundreds of emails clogging my inboxes (still massively behind on all that...)
--started compiling the inventory list for Further Confusion, since I have to ship the stuff out in advance
--gave the cats their weekly grooming
Today it's back to the comic shop salt mines; it is Xmas retail there so it's been exhausting.
Obligatory link spam:
New eBay auctions are here! Lots of graphic novels, comics, and other nerdy goodies.
New FurBuy auctions are here! NSFW! Furry comics, adult comics, adult furry comics, the usual.
And hey, we have free comics you can read, too- you can check them out at this link! We still have dirt cheap Project Wonderful ads available on many pages of our site, starting at five cents per bid!
Current media consumed: Manga: Disappearance Diary by Hideo Azuma; Books: How To Eat by Nigella Lawson; Netflix: The IT Crowd Season 1 and 2

- 10:25:41: It bothers me that the news reports about Brittany Murphy's death do not mention her obvious eating disorder. Karen Carpenter, anyone?
- 10:27:51: Finally feeling actually better today, so I have a million things to do re: Radio Comix, re: the house, etc. Busy girl is busy!
- 22:28:28: The post office is a special plane of hell tonight. One with only two clerks, apparently.

Okay, in a nutshell:
Woke up 9am Thursday to a sharp knotted pain in my abdomen, felt like bad gas. Drank a big glass of water to try and flush it through as I usually do, but this time it make it feel even more painful. This was odd, I thought, and tried to go back to bed. Failed miserably at that due to pain. Googled my symptoms, and all signs pointed towards appendicitis. I kinda shrugged and made a mental note that if things didn't get better in a few hours, I'd head to the emergency room. Finally, when things weren't feeling any better by later that afternoon, I gave in and headed to the ER, just in case it happened to be appendicitis.
Waited a bit over 3 hours to finally be seen. Ended up taking another couple of hours until they decided to toss me in the CT to check out my stomach. An hour or so after that, the doc finally comes up to me and tells me animatedly, "You have appendicitis!" I was almost kind of happy, seeing that I managed to diagnose myself right. Unfortunately, this meant surgery as well, something I've never had done before, aside from removal of wisdom teeth.
Unfortunately they couldn't do it that night, so they put me in a hospital bed and gave me pills so I could get some sleep before surgery. Needless to say I didn't get much. It didn't help that it took them three tries to take blood from me the night before, and two more to take *more* blood from me the morning before surgery. My arms look like target practice. Anyway, I waited agonizingly for several hours that morning before they finally took me off to surgery a bit before 11am. I was out like a light as soon as the meds hit my IV, and woke up in the recovery room being told to take deep breaths through my nose. That didn't work so well, but I guess it was enough for the doctor, as they took me back to my hospital room shortly after that.
There were no problems with the surgery, and my family was allowed to see me, though I wasn't in much shape to entertain them. They finally put me on solid foods the following day and released me to go home, where I am now recovering. Stomach is still incredibly sore, but they put me on Vicodin so I won't be feeling the true extent of it for a couple of days, yet. I'm getting better at standing up and sitting down, and finally getting to eat real meals is helping my body as well.
Anyway, thank you, Google, for warning me not to take chances, and get myself examined immediately! I'm now minus one appendix, but plus a few points in general health. :)

- 09:41:36: The cold lied yesterday- I am not better yet, oh no. Time to suck it up and down enough cold meds to keep me going at work today.
- 11:19:42: I do not understand why some of our customers smell like mold. Incoming allergy attack in 3, 2, 1...
- 19:12:09: Today is fired, fired, fired. Toilet decided it hated us and required a plumber visit. Expensive! Now the bathroom needs massive cleaning.
- 19:13:16: Raked leaves when I got home, so they wouldn't make us all fall and break our necks. Of course, they were wet and HEAVY. Ugh!
- 19:13:57: Still tired from the head cold. NyQuil worked well last night, but caused truly bizarre dreams, and meant I was sluggish all day.

This is mostly being posted for the benefit of
denshousha, so we can get the SAAS meeting planned for this month. But hey, I thought other people might want to see these rare clips also. Watch and enjoy, opening credits for almost all the magical girl anime shows since 1966, in order by year. In the cut, because the list is HUGE.

I lean towards liking the stuff from the mid-1990's and earlier when it comes to magical girl shows, but I'm always pleased when I find something newer that's good. Princess Tutu is delightfully surreal and pretty, and no wonder I like it since it's by the guy who made Ojamajo Doremi which I also love. I'm a fan of the Sugar Sugar Rune manga, so will likely try the anime also. Bewitched Agnes sounds completely bonkers (wiki link), and gives nods in the title to the show that started the whole magical girl craze in Japan in the first place: Bewitched. Yes, the Elizabeth Montgomery show! We can blame the magical girlfriend genre of anime on the other American export: I Dream of Jeannie. But that's a whole other post!
